Escritor alemán. Sirvió siete años en el ejército prusiano, y su obra despertó por primera vez atención cuando Kleist se encontraba en prisión acusado de espía. El sombrío e intenso drama
Pentesilea (1808) contiene parte de su poesía más potente, y
El jarrón roto (1808) constituye una obra maestra entre las comedias dramáticas; estas obras fueron seguidas por
